Our client is a leading global company in visual technology, headquartered in Europe with offices in North America, Asia, and Oceania. Renowned for their cutting-edge digital imaging solutions, they offer a diverse range of products that enhance visual technology across various platforms. Their portfolio includes:
With a strong focus on innovation and an extensive patent portfolio, the client is at the forefront of the digital imaging industry.
In 2012, the client sought to develop a standalone application for applying analog and vintage effects to photos. After experiencing several failed outsourcing attempts with other vendors, they approached Integrass for help. The primary challenge was to overcome the client’s hesitations about outsourcing and establish a long-term partnership, given that a significant portion of Integrass’s revenue comes from enduring client relationships.
Effective Strategy To reduce development costs by 30%, Integrass recommended using the Qt framework, enabling cross-platform compatibility (Windows and Mac) with a single development team. After signing a strict NDA to protect the client’s intellectual property, Integrass assembled a team of 3 Qt Developers, 2 Testers, and 1 Scrum Master, all working closely with the client’s Product Manager. The team focused on meticulous planning and architecture, proposing cost-effective enhancements along the way. What started as a simple plugin evolved into a standalone application with integration capabilities for popular visual technology tools like Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom.
Overcoming Challenges Despite the product’s initial success, which attracted a user base of around 35,000, several challenges arose. The client was hesitant to share infrastructure due to security concerns, and Integrass had to adapt its development processes to align with the client’s Scrum methodology. These challenges ultimately strengthened the collaboration and improved workflow between the two companies.
Project Expansion As the project progressed, Integrass developed a tool to address complex perspective issues and visual distortions. Additionally, a team of 2 Testers was assigned to ensure the quality of a desktop application designed to optimize camera performance by reducing noise and enhancing image details.
Building a Strong Partnership Even though the client explored other outsourcing options, Integrass’s commitment solidified its role as a trusted partner. The collaboration expanded, with additional C++ specialists brought in to refine the client’s core framework, and a team of 3 Qt Developers assigned to adapt the product for the Mac App Store. Over the next few years, Integrass’s team grew to about 15 specialists, working on 5 projects—some extending the client’s internal teams and others developing new products independently.
Innovative Solutions One standout project involved developing a mobile app integrated with a portable accessory for iOS devices, aimed at capturing high-quality professional photos. Integrass assembled a team of 3 Developers, 4 Testers, and 1 Scrum Master to ensure the project met critical time-to-market requirements.
Continued Support Integrass also assisted the client in optimizing their IT infrastructure and provided expertise in user interface design. “We’ve become an integral part of the client’s development efforts,” says Aliaksei Dziadovich, Integrass Project Manager. Regular training sessions and business trips further strengthened the partnership.
The collaboration with Integrass significantly boosted the client’s global market presence by increasing their agility and speeding up time-to-market. Over four years, the partnership grew from an initial team of 6 specialists to 5 teams totaling over 15 members. Together, they released 8 products, with 4 developed entirely by Integrass. One of these products even won an award for Best Visual Technology Application from a prestigious photographers’ association. The client is now looking to further expand Integrass’s involvement and embark on new projects.
